About Arbuckle FCU
In 1966, Ada Federal Employees Credit Union (AFECU) was established for Federal employees and their relatives in Pontotoc and Coal Counties. Savings and loans were all that were available through the credit union for many years.
AFECU purchased the building it currently operates from in January 2011. Shortly after that, CDs and money markets became available to our members.
On October 1, 2011, AFECU changed its charter to a Federal community charter for Pontotoc, Coal, Johnston, Garvin, and Murray counties. With this change in the charter, AFECU was renamed to Arbuckle Federal Credit Union (AFCU) to represent some of the natural wonders of the counties AFCU represents. You can see our specific field of membership requirements on the “Join” tab of our website.
Checking accounts with debit cards was added in July 2012 along with AFCU’s first ATM. You can see a list of all services now offered by AFCU on the “Misc.” tab under “Services.”
In 2023 AFCU completed our membership expansion and have added the counties Seminole and Hughes to our eligible membership base. The full criteria can be viewed on the “Join” page.
AFCU is a not-for-profit cooperative financial institution owned by its members. The volunteer board of directors is elected at our annual meeting from among the membership. Deposits are insured up to $250,000.00 by the National Credit Union Administration, an agency of the U.S. Government.
If you would like any other information about AFCU, please call the office.
